Tinuy-an Falls is touted to be the widest waterfalls in the country. Its critically acclaimed majestic and unique natural formation landed in some pages of international travel magazines.
Tinuy-an Falls, Bislig, Surigao Del SurWhat makes Tinuy-an Falls exceptional is that the 95-meter wide waterfall plunges 55 meters (180 feet) high from the top of the three tiered cascading waters that looks like a huge white theatrical curtain.
Ocean View Park & Doll House
Ocean Ocean View Park, Surigao Del Sur
When visiting Surigao del Sur, one must not miss to visit Ocean View Park. Ocean View Park is a restaurant located in Barangay Cumawas, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur. The restaurant is situated on a hilltop and gives you a wonderful view of the Chocolate Beach down below. The only challenge being located uphill is one would need to conquer the 270 steps of stairs to reach the restaurant. The view you would get up there in their viewing deck is priceless though.
Doll House, Surigao Del SurThe place is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Werner William. The wife is an avid collector of dolls thus they came up with the International Doll House just adjacent to the the restaurant.
The dolls in the doll house are authentic. There were a lot of barbies representing the different countries of the world. These barbies also have their own passports. Mrs. Ruelaine’s passion started with her barbies in the 1980’s until her collection grew bigger as she and her husband travel around the world
Nothing else is as blue as its waters and as comforting as its serenity. Its waters are also filled with different kinds of marine life. The left side of the entrancing is quite deep. Perhaps this is why many say, it is where the mermaids are. Only the brave dare swim its depths. Many divers have tried to reach the bottom of the river but no one has ever been successful. The surrounding area of the river has been fully developed. Picnic tables and cottages are readily available for travellers to enjoy.
Enchanted River is as mysterious as its name itself. Like the Wakulla Springs in Tallahassee, Florida (which I had visited a couple of years ago), no one knows where the water comes from.
One look at the river’s waters will make visitors understand why it was given this name, with its vivid blue waters. It is possible to swim in the Enchanted River. Even those who are not confident in their swimming skills can enjoy the waters, as there are stalls there that offer rental of life jackets and goggles.
Britania Group of Island Island Hopping starts at 7am and leave at 2pm
Half-day is enough to visit and enjoy all four islands. Remember, that you can control your time on these islands. Hagonoy – Naked – Boslon – Hiyor-Hiyoran is the usual route of the tour.
BRITANIA GROUP OF ISLANDS
San Agustin is blessed with 24 islands and islets scattered all over Lianga Bay, which faces the Pacific Ocean. The group of islands is called Britania.
The island is composed only of white sand and some rocks. It’s quite small and most tourists, especially local tourists, would only stay here for a short while to take pictures, especially at noon when the heat becomes unbearable
The adjacent Islets are mostly spherical in shape and some of them are partially surrounded with pristine white sands so pure and refined. Famous for its pristine water and very fine, almost powdery sands and the different hues and colors of sea water that changes from one island to another.
Hagonoy Island. A long stretch of island with a handful of coconut and talisay trees. Swimming here is ideal. The sand is fine and white and the waters are crystal clear
Naked Island, just beside Hagonoy. The island is basically a white sand bar with some rocks. Swimming here is also possible with its clear blue waters. You may swim on both sides of the island. It’s quite small and local tourists would only stop here to take photos. In our case though, we probably stayed here the longest and most of the time we were the only ones there. We didn’t mind the sun and heat. Waves come from both sides covering the island at every surge.
Boslon Island was next. Most tourists would stop here for lunch. There are stalls selling refreshments, food and souvenirs. There are also tables and chairs shaded by some trees and rocks. It’s also a great spot for swimming but definitely more crowded compared to the first two islands. Walk behind Boslon Island during low tide and you may walk to the nearby island via a sandbar.
The last stop is Hiyor-hiyoran island. It has a nice wide open beach lined with a handful of palm trees.
